About Me

While there are many "en vogue" SocialNetworking- and ePersona-sites.com (e.g facebook/twitter/linkedIn), my goal here is to give you more insight into who I am, my interests and my drivers, in a forum that gives me greater control over presentation and style, and in a way that enables me to further explore (and learn) various web technologies and techniques.

Background

My academic background is in Chemistry and Mathematics, achieving a Doctorate in theoretical chemistry from Boston University. Really interesting work, but it was pretty far out there. The experience was significant though, because it was where I developed many of my learning and critical thinking skills. We are shaped by our experiences, and I've been fortunate to have had some incredible teachers and opportunities along the way.

My graduate studies evolved into a number of roles in commercial software companies and IT organizations - where I could apply my analytical, communication and reasoning skills to solving challenges that impede organizational growth and technical advancement.

The Other Me

Google my name and you'll see the usual LinkedIn and Facebook links as well as a few random links for webinars and publications at various former companies.

You'll also see links for cycling, running and even cross-country skiing events. Nearly all of those links are me, representing some of the physical activities that keep me energized.... Other activities, more restorative in nature, include craftsmanship (woodworking, and stained glass) and, of course, my kids!

Hiking is another of my restorative passtimes. We are working on the 48 New Hampshire 4000' peaks. You can read about the peaks, and view photos and blogs of our hikes on our hiking micro-site.

Curiously, you'll also find a link or two about someone in the 1800's who did a number on their family members - that's not me!

Pictures on this site were gathered from places of significance throughout my life - Eastern Long Island and the Outer Cape. Click on any picture for a larger image.
