{"id":2986,"date":"2021-12-04T09:17:41","date_gmt":"2021-12-04T14:17:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/?p=2986"},"modified":"2025-09-08T09:15:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T13:15:20","slug":"st-john","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/st-john\/","title":{"rendered":"St. John"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Breaking a bit of our tradition for active vacations\/holidays \u2013 this adventure, to celebrate a milestone birthday, was more tranquil, but no less breathtaking in natural wonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We traveled to St. John, US Virgin Islands. The island itself isn\u2019t very large, not much more than 10 miles across. We\u2019d found a cute villa on a hillside on the \u201csleepy\u201d side of St. John \u2013 overlooking Coral Bay. Fun!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Cobblestone-beach.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2988\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>And a few days later, we did the longer Reef Bay Trail \u2013 another out-and-back trail from the main road, through a thick forest, eventually emptying out at an old Sugar mill and plantation.
