In hindsight, packing way too much gear, but then what did we know at the time.  <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/switzerland-001-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3285\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>We flew through Paris, on our way to Zurich, then a train to Wilderswil, a very small village in the Jungfrau region of the Swiss Alps.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/switzerland-014-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3286\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Wilderswil is a few minute south of Interlaken, just entering the Lauterbrunen valley.   A cute little town &#8211; very swiss.  We arrived by train from Zurich, and were greeted by what can only be called something a bit different &#8211; a parade of cows with their massive cow bells, walking down the street.   Kinda story book, but very memorable &#8211; they take their cows seriously!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And you know you&#8217;re in a different country, when getting off the train, we&#8217;re greeted with a parade of cows &#8211; yes, with VERY LARGE cowbells &#8211; a sound we were to come and enjoy in our multi-day adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/switzerland-015-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3287\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>We were treated to a bit of classic Swiss culture one evening &#8211; just outside the hotel.   A bit of alpine music and dancing in the parking lot.  <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/switzerland-025-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3288\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/switzerland-037-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3289\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A visit to Interlaken one day on bikes &#8211; and our first real exposure to glacial waters &#8211; amazing torquoise.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Soon enough, we began thinking and looking forward to our hiking adventure.   Pictured below is the Eiger, Munch, and Jungfrau mountain massif.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/switzerland-047-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/switzerland-047-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/peterdittman.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/switzerland-047-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>With a bit more free time, we took a sight-seeing adventure (and funicular) to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.restaurantharderkulm.ch\/en\/index.html\">Harder Kulm<\/a>.
