Fueled by our 4000 Footer adventures, we explored and eventually ‘enlisted’ as Information Volunteers with the Appalachian Mountain Club. The AMC has a large and very active volunteer program – assisting with the trails, programs, and facilities – you can read more on their site. We were specifically interested in volunteering in the huts.

What could be better – we get to be out on the trails, talking and assisting other like-minded souls, and we get to stay for free.
