'12 - Jungfrau, Switzerland

We'd done a fair bit of single-day hiking throughout New England, and even a few multi-day, assisted by the AMC mountain huts, but we had the opportunity to visit one of the kids in a study-abroad program, so it seemed only natural to explore trekking in the Jungfrau.

This was our first multi-day trekking adventure, which means we were unprepared, didn't know how to pack well, and were set to make all sorts of novice mistakes.

All that said, it turned into a very memorable experience, laying the ground work for many more multi-day, international adventures ahead!

One of the key practices we learned, was when bringing extra clothing beyond the hiking gear, plan for a multi-day hike that returns to the origin - that way, we can leave a suitcase at the start-end point - hugely helpful!

Wilderswil and the Swiss Alps
