Here we are, young(er) and overpacked for our first european hiking adventure. In hindsight, packing way too much gear, but then what did we know at the time.

We flew through Paris, on our way to Zurich, then a train to Wilderswil, a very small village in the Jungfrau region of the Swiss Alps.

Wilderswil is a few minute south of Interlaken, just entering the Lauterbrunen valley. A cute little town – very swiss. We arrived by train from Zurich, and were greeted by what can only be called something a bit different – a parade of cows with their massive cow bells, walking down the street. Kinda story book, but very memorable – they take their cows seriously!
And you know you’re in a different country, when getting off the train, we’re greeted with a parade of cows – yes, with VERY LARGE cowbells – a sound we were to come and enjoy in our multi-day adventure.

We were treated to a bit of classic Swiss culture one evening – just outside the hotel. A bit of alpine music and dancing in the parking lot.

Soon enough, we began thinking and looking forward to our hiking adventure. Pictured below is the Eiger, Munch, and Jungfrau mountain massif.

With a bit more free time, we took a sight-seeing adventure (and funicular) to the Harder Kulm. Amazing views from the observation deck.

Finally, it was time to say goodbye to Wilderswil and begin our journey through the Jungfrau. Pictured here in front of the cog railway to Schynige Platte.
