As we said goodbye to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, we made our way to the third stop in our Canadian Maritimes road trip: Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in Maine. While we’d visited Acadia NP a few years back, at that time, we’d only scratched the surface, but enough to know there was much more to explore.

Departing from Cavendish, PEI we made our way over the Confederation Bridge which separates PEI from the mainland. Unlike our arrival to PEI, we had a beautiful travel day and were able to see just how expansive the bridge really is! Eight miles is a long bridge!

The drive from Cavendish was long – over 400 miles – but the time and landscape passed quickly.

Nova Scotia

We departed early from Cape Cod to catch the afternoon ferry from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia – about a 6 hour drive. Since it was a Sunday and not quite good beach weather, we were able to make good time and arrived a bit early into Bar Harbor, giving us time to stop for a quick bite to eat at a little restaurant – the Chart Room, where we’d stayed on our last visit to Acadia.
